DISTANT SKY - ABSENT ECHO is a new installation consisting of 3 sculptures created for the unique interior of Atelier Arthur Rogiers.
Unfolding a part of Lien Hüwels archive consisting of videos, photos and printwork.
This archive expands through observations in domestic and homemade studio sets and hybrid studios that are set up during several travels.
Observing the artist’s loved ones, astronomical objects, elusive spaces, and other identities.
The 3 sculptures function simultaneously as a vessel for parts of the artist’s archive. But they also reverb the living room as a hybrid, space of creation and in this case also as exhibition space.
Lien Hüwels (°1988), born in Antwerp, graduated from Sint Lucas Antwerp school of arts in 2011.
In 2012 she received the first Prijs Bernd Lohaus from Kasper König.
In 2015 and 2016 she was a resident at HISK in Ghent.
Her work was shown in LLS 387 Antwerp (BE), 6th Moscow Biennale, special program (RU), S.M.A.K.
